My Top Favorite Paint Colors of All Time

March 1, 2018

If you’re like me, you’ve probably painted the walls in your house at least four times. From grey that turned lavender to beige that pulled pink, it’s a known fact that I’m the worst when it comes to choosing paint. Mainly because I make three crucial mistakes:

I refuse to abide by the rules of color theory.
Test swatches are not in my vocabulary.
I make decisions based on colors that I see in other people’s homes.

Then why should you care about my favorite paint colors of all time? After years of blunders, I’ve finally found five tried and true colors that work! And because I get asked at least ten times a day about my paint choices on Instagram.

1. Sherwin Williams – Snowbound

The perfect cool-toned white, brightens up an entire room or looks great next to a dark accent wall.

2. Benjamin Moore  – Salamander

Who said you can’t do dark colors in a small space? This green is so dark it’s almost black and it’s the best decision I ever made for our half (Or should I say quarter?) bathroom!

3. Behr – Calligraphy

Sometimes grey. Sometimes blue. Always beautiful. The most asked about color in my home! It’s also on the chair rail in our dining room.

4. Sherwin Williams – Fresh Balsam

A great moody, bohemian green without being too dark or overpowering! I love the way it makes the furniture and gallery wall pop,

5. Benjamin Moore – Raccoon Fur

I may or may not have bought this solely based on the name. 😉 A super cool-toned grey that almost looks black in certain lighting conditions.

There you have it! Greens and blues are my jam balanced by a bright, crisp white. These colors are the perfect place to start if you’ve been debating going dark! Have an upcoming paint project? Check out my favorite tools for the job:
