I’ve come to the terrifying conclusion that I spend way too much money on food. I’m the girl that goes to the grocery store on a Monday afternoon, fills her cart to the brim, and then orders out for dinner. (Are you secretly judging me?) To cut back on expenses I’ve decided to implement a “beverage no buy.” What does that mean? No drive-thrus allowed! And rightly so – there’s no need to buy coffee when my Keurig® K-Elite™ Coffee Maker brews my drinks in the comfort of my own home!
So instead of hitting up the local coffee shop for a $6 Iced Caramel Macchiato, I decided to make my own! The savings? $6 x 5 days = $30 a week x 52 weeks = $1,560! That’s an all-inclusive vacation! Join me in becoming your own barista because the beaches of Negril are calling your name!
Make Mine Iced!
My take on the Iced Caramel Macchiato begins with lots of ice! Follow with vanilla syrup. Then slowly pour milk on top. Whole, skim, coconut, or almond – the choices are endless! (My favorite is almond ;)) Just keep in mind, the slower you pour the better the results!
If you’re like me, espresso makes your heart race and your palms sweat. I like to substitute it with coffee brewed specially over ice. My favorite? The Original Donut Shop® K-Cup® pods! Simply place it into your Keurig® K-Elite™ Coffee Maker and press the Iced button. Make sure to pour your coffee in a straight line down the center of the glass – in true macchiato fashion!
Don’t forget to leave room for the most indulgent part: the whipped cream and caramel sauce. Leave the measuring to your mama and feel free to go a little overboard! Cause remember, you’re saving money so there’s reason to celebrate! Now enjoy. 🙂 Cheers – I’ll see you on the beach!
