The Futon – Not Just For College Kids

February 5, 2018

We’ve all done it – crashed on a friend’s futon after a night of drinking with a waste basket by our side just in case the tequila shots decided to make a reappearance. Thankfully we’ve outgrown those college days and so has our friend The Futon.

No longer just a lumpy dorm room staple, the futon is making a comeback in a big way.

And here’s why: it’s the perfect option for small space residents and minimalists alike. I may not be either of those things but my Novogratz Futon from DHP Furniture is hands down one of the most versatile pieces I own. It’s the Optimus Prime of Futons, swiftly transforming from a sleek sofa into a comfy bed in under a minute.

The Futon Is All Grown Up

In 2014 Elle Decor deemed the futon as the number one thing you should never ever have in your home after 30. Which means I still have two years before I have to trash mine. KIDDING! The futon is all grown up, my friends! Now sleek and modern (with no more lumps), these space savers are proving to be much more comfortable than even sleeper sofas. They’re popping up in living rooms, offices, and walk-in closets all across Instagram. So when that unexpected guest stops by… never fear! They’ll have a place to sleep.

Sleep Where You Sit

Oh and did I mention that, DHP Furniture recently launched a line of bedding designed with futons in mind?! No more fussing with ill-fitted linens or digging out the sleeping bag because these microfiber sheets were made specifically for your Novogratz Futon. The set includes a flat sheet, fitted sheet, and two pillowcases that are incredibly soft and wrinkle resistant. The futon game has officially been changed! Want to win a set of your own? Don’t miss out on this giveaway!

But wait – there’s more! No bed is complete without something warm and cozy to cuddle up with. Enter It’s a modern take on the classic quilt with it’s bold iconic letters and stylish colors. And the best part? No trip to the Dry Cleaner’s necessary! Everything is machine washable which means the only thing YOU have to worry about is what color to choose.

The Comeback Kid

This may be a bold statement but I’m thinking with the addition of this Novogratz Bedding, that the futon is officially better than a sofa or a bed. Because hello? It’s both! And if mine could talk I’m pretty sure it would leave us with the words of LL Cool J, “Don’t call it a comeback. I’ve been here for years.”
